Why having a "Floor-drobe" is never about the clothes 🧐

I think many of us can identity with having a "floor-drobe"- that situation where you have more clothes on the floor, on the back of the chair, in piles etc. than you actually have in your wardrobe. Although perhaps, like me, your wardrobe is actually a bit full too 😳

What we see is the clothes-clutter, we may experience the same frustration that there is nothing to wear, getting ready takes ages, we get hot and flustered and beat ourselves up because nothing looks or feels right, We're bigger or smaller than our clothes want us to be and that impacts on our self-esteem and the way we are able to get on with our day.

So, on the surface we think we have the same problem...

However...

Without knowing why we have the clothes situation going on in the first place we may not be solving the right problem. We need to get to the root cause of the problem before we can start trying to solve it.

You see, two people might ask me about getting on top of their clothes clutter and the meaning in the clutter for each of them will be different:

Ā

For one person it could be that they just don't see themselves as others do, and so they keep buying more because nothing clicks- their identity and knowing who they truly are could be their reason.

Ā

The second person may have a compulsive shopping habit stemming from a fear of not having enough, or a need to always feel prepared and that would give us a different reason.

Ā

Piecing this information together with their history and other factors will help see the meaning in their clutter and then we can find the root cause and the key to solving things.

Ā

So when we talk about "clutter", and we all seem to understand how clutter feels, one person's clutter is not the same as another's.

To be able to give you the very best help and support for the long-term, not just a quick fix, and the only way that is possible is to give you the keys to unlock the real problems you need to solve.
